The beginning of a new year is traditionally a moment of reflection, but equally an invitation to look ahead with renewed energy and confidence.
In the world of law, where every decision, every negotiation, and every strategy rests on diligence, sharp insight and human conection, this moment of reflection is more than symbolic. It is a necessary pause in the rhythm of daily work, an opportunity to reassess our foundations and to reaffirm what we, as advisors and partners, wish to stand for.
We therefore wish you a new year that begins in calm, grows in clarity and ends in accomplishments that reach beyond the strictly professional. For although legal guidance often translates into analyses, opinions, contracts and the resolution of conflicts, the essence of our mission—as we see it—lies elsewhere: in trust.
Trust that we may build, safeguard and strengthen. Trust that clients dare to place in a team that defends their interests with craftsmanship, experience, precision, discretion and clarity.
The past year once again brought many changes, challenges and new perspectives within the legal world and within our firm. New colleagues joined us, while others chose new opportunities. We moved our offices from the Étangs d’Ixelles to the Woluwe-Oudergem area, allowing us to be even closer and more accessible, and to work and create in an oasis of peace and serenity.
Within both VB Alliance and the law firm, we improved our digital communication: a quarterly newsletter was launched, and we provided weekly blogs and columns full of interesting insights.
The ongoing evolution of regulations, the increasingly complex international context and the growing need for solution-oriented and efficient support mean that expertise alone is no longer sufficient. What truly makes a difference is the ability to combine legal knowledge with refined strategic intuition, transparent communication and a deep understanding of each client’s unique context.
With those values in mind, we aim to offer you more than mere advice in the coming year. We aim to be a partner who brings calm where uncertainty arises, who provides structure where complexity threatens, and who anticipates where others merely react. A partner who listens before speaking and who weighs every word before committing it to writing.
And we are pleased to make all of this very concrete.
Soon we will share more with you about the VB Academy, which from spring 2026 will offer a selection of seminars, training sessions and workshops on a wide range of topics aligned with current developments—approached from fiscal-legal, accounting, financial, fiduciary and investment-related perspectives.
A number of work trips are also scheduled for the spring, both to further explore new jurisdictions and to participate in colloquia, trade fairs and other international events.
Finally, the Federal Conciliation Commission for the Hospitality Sector, of which I was appointed chairman, is also taking concrete form. More information about this will follow shortly.
As we enter the new year together, we would like to thank you for the trust you place in us and for the openness with which you share your projects, concerns and ambitions. A law boutique such as ours does not thrive on files, but on relationships; not on volume, but on quality; not on routine, but on attention.
In 2026, we will continue to place that attention at the centre of our work. We will continue investing in profound expertise, but equally in warm, personal guidance. And we remain convinced that elegance in law lies in simplicity: in a clearly formulated opinion, a carefully designed strategy and a discreet yet determined approach.
